Is there a rule of thumb, on the rotation of a motor, when the manufacturer say foward, does it mean clockwise from the front or rear of the motor? I have no rotation arrow on this baldor motor.
These guys may need a little more info to answer your question, is there any information in the junction box for wires? What info is on motor plate? Also there have been many good threads written on this subject if you use the advanced search function there is a whole wealth of info at your finger tips.
I like to think that the convention is that forward means clockwise as viewed from the drive end of the motor. This fits with the convention that normal phase rotation (R-Y-B, R-S-T, or U-V-W) is clockwise.
This is a single phase , 240 volt motor which can be wired foward or reverse. looking at the motor from the shaft side, I want the motor to turn counter clockwise.
