rotating shaft/coupling misalignment

Is there a ASME standard that addresses the criteria for performing a shaft alignment check? If you have a flexible coupling installed, does checking the shaft alignment without un-coupling yield any useful information?

To my knowledge, no ASME criteria available, and API RECOMMENDED PRACTICE 686 / PIP RElE 686 may address this issue (Chapter 7).

INSURANCE COMPANIES THAT PROVIDE BOILER AND MACHINERY INSURANCE COVERAGE HAVE TONS OF INFORMATION ON SUCH SUBJECT.
GET A HOLD OF THEIR REPRESENTATIVES ESPECIALLY THOSE ASSOCIATED W/ HARTBORD BOILER INSURANCE.
