look at past projects
drawings and programming
can you view these programs?
see if they have standard code, view it learn it. how do they implement standard code?
how can you write reliable code? how can you write code in less time than was done before? How can you write code that is at the quoted rate?
see if they have a plc and rack that you can use. see if you can upload and download, go online with the processor. If not get ahold of the area rep and see if you can borrow a rack and plc or go to their office and do this.
see if they have any written documentation on how they implement projects, if not make one up. See if it matches their expectations on project implemenation.
get familar with all the vendors and what they provide to your office. Collect all their cards for reference.
I have worked at a lot of controls houses, these are some but not all of what is expected of you, get up to speed, make yourself valuable. Then they will think your a good worker and a valuable controls person to have around.
