i am newbie to this forum, even though i have lurked for a couple of years. So, to everyone finally, hello!

down to business! Iam trying to create a part using the VSS. now, i have never really used the variable section sweep command before and i need some help since i am running into some trouble.

while trying to figure out my problem, i found this article:

which of course leads me to this thread...

with these 2 articles in tow, i am still unable to create what i need. i need to create an inlet for an air conditioning filter. so, i need this piece to start as a square, and eventually run into a 4 1/2 inch diameter neck fortubing. basically, the 2nd article is virually a perfect model of what i need, but am unable to get it to work.

i think my problem is in my initial steps to create the model. argh!!!!!!

1. As the article says you don't need a VSS for this aparallel blend is enough.

For that this is a step by step procedure and it's also a unbendable part, if you're interesting in making it from a sheet of steel.

2. But I see in that article that a VSS could also be used, that makes me curious, I never used VSS for making a blend from square to circle.

Hey Vlad-

thanks for the response. well, even after upgrading my PTC account, i
am still not "authorized" to view the article. thanks anyways pal!!!!

there was another topic here about someone that had a blended wing section they wanted some surfacing done on. Whoever handled that response did some fine VSS work...have to see if I can find that back..

cheers,

M

moner,

is it all twisted around?..... if so you need to sync your start points

just what happens when you try?

are both ends of the transitions drawn as sketches first? should i create one side (the square side) as aflat protrusion first?

my problem lies in the infamiliraity with the VSS step-by-step protocol. and it isnt like thedashboard is so clear.

sometimes a hint is all a person needs, hope the datum curves gave you some ideas. I also tried shifting the datum plane so the hex shape was on the other side...makes a crazy shape...

cheers,
