Revision Blocks and Templates

We have settled on our standard for our title block and decided to remove the revision table and use the built in one with Inventor 8. We customized the layout of the revision block, added some fields and anchored it to our title block. When we OPEN this drawing file, everything is fine.

BUT when we save this drawing file as a TEMPLATE and start a new drawing using this template the revision table that is on the drawing is GONE! If you insert a revision table the fields we added are gone, the layout is back to the default and everything is as if we did nothing to the revision table. If you open the template drawing it's still there.

The question is, is there any way to have a DEFAULT revision table layout (and possibly location on a drawing) that you can have nested in a template drawing file????

The revision tool in IV is useless as the defaults accnot be saved in the template. Many of use use a sketched symbol to replace this tool. I've heard a rumor that it will be fixed in R9. We'll see...

I found a thread in Autodesk's forums that said :

I'm afraid not. I don't know if this is a bug or has just been overlooked....FOREVER. We have been opening our idw template file and then doing a save as. Then open the saved as idw & the revision table stays.

According to our reseller, this is something that he has been requesting AutoDesk to fix since Rev. 5.

Actually it was Rev6. However we did catch it in the beat and it still wasn't fixed before release. Do yourself a favor and not use it.
