Reverse slip-on flange AD 2000 Merkblatt

Hello!

I am calculating slip-on flange with AD 2000 Merkblatt B8.

I have a question what mean that the value under the root (equation 27-required thickness) in negative. What i have to do in this position.

I have never seen a slip-on flange weld geometry that looks like that.

Obviously, that is a copy of a book, maybe a textbook. But it is not any commercial fitting I've ever seen.
