I am working on the lateral design of a house (a normal house - not like a perfect rectangle in every example I've seen), and I am wondering if anyone has a good reference that shows a complete lateral design. I am trying to rationalize how to handle drag struts/collectors, chord forces, etc. when you have offsets in walls like most houses do. Really looking forward to my conversation with the builder about how overdesigned this thing is.

Wood framing, wind controls lateral, no interior walls that extend full width (or length for that matter) or even within the 12.5-foot allowance, house is 73 feet wide x 73 feet long

Check out the book: The Analysis of Irregular Shaped Structures diaphragms & shearwalls by R. Terry Malone & Robert W. Rice.

Best value text I ever bought! Worth every penny and a must have for residential design.
