Srs,

Good Morning,

You could answer the questions below;

1 - If a supplier (Villares Metals) has qualified using oven number 7. The next Heat treatment can only be carried out by oven No. 7?

2 - Should the temperature control be carried out by a contact thermocouple? or is only the oven accepted?

Att,

Wendel Trento

You would need to look at Manufacturing Summary N4501 to see what range of options they have laid out.
They only need to use annual surveys to keep a furnace qualified, but that should be described in their internal documents.
As I recall for these grades they have to qualify HT on the actually thickness, for each thickness that they make. Below 40mm they can qualify a range, but above that each size is unique.

1. Subclause 9.2.2 refers to "furnace(s)" taken to mean any furnace that has met the requirements of subclause 9.1.3

2. Contact thermocouple is only mandated for heat treatment procedure verification activity covered in subclause 9.3. See if the attachment provides any help.
