Is there any way to base a drawing view on a different drawing file without breaking continuity to the subordinate views such as sections, etc.
I created an entire sheet of sections cut from a plan view that was based on an assembly file (.iam) which is actually a subassembly. Now I think it would be more effecient for me to use the main assembly file for this and other drawings, and simply control the views with the level of detail options.
Problem is I've already invested allot of time on this drawing sheet and don't want to redo it. So I'm wondering if there's a way to replace drawing views (sort of like in an assembly file you can replace components) without disturbing the continuity of the rest of the drawing.

You could try moving the assembly your drawing is currently directed to and re-open the drawing. It'll ask you for the location of the assembly. At that time you would re-direct it to the top level assembly you are wanting to use.

Design Assistant might also be a better way to do this.
