We know that if a part/component of an assembly referenced by a drawing is renamed, when we try to open the drawing it says drawing cannot be retrieved because it failed to find the model(renamed one)in the directory. Use this work around to come out of this.
Set the config.pro option
RENAME_DRAWINGS_WITH_OBJECT BOTH
With this option set as said, tell Pro/E to save the associated drawings whenever the part/assembly it reference, is saved.
As an alternative you can rename the part/assembly referenced by a drawing, by keeping that drawing active; in which case the changes are updated automatically. However you have to save the drawing after this renaming episode.
