In thermal analysis in Ansys we need to specify a reference temp in addition to the temperatures we are applying as thermal constraints or loads.

Now say, if I have to apply a temp rise of 30`C. Ref temp is 21`C.Total temp is 51`C .

* in ansys we input
Ref temp - 21`C
Temp on nodes as - 30`C
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/
1.How do we do it in IDEAS
2.What is the default room temp (ref temp)in Ideas.
3.Do I have to apply 21 + 30 = 51`C on nodes or just 30 `C.
4.Where do I secify or input the Ref temp.

Thanks in advance

tipsnitin,
Are you performing a pure thermal analysis, or thermal-mechanical analysis (i.e. CTE -stress)? It's sound like you are doing a thermal-mechanical analysis.
1. You can define the reference temp. & ambient temp. in the Boundary conditions task> set> temperature.
2. The default ref. temp is 21.85'C, however, you can set it as you like.
3. the ref. temp is the stress-free temp. If you want to specify temp. constraint of 20'C rise over the ref. temp, you should specify (ref. temp + 20'C)
4. as in (1.)

If you are performing a pure thermal analysis, I think you should refer to the TMG module.
