Reduce Noise Level from Grinder

I am trying to reduce the noise level in the room where this grinder is. The grinder receives excess plastic from our process through a top opening where the plastic drops in and side via a conveyor. There is a vacuum tube attached to the bottom to suck the ground plastic up and out of the room. The noise level is irregular. Think of a crunching plus gear grinding sound. My idea was to build a partial enclosure with Lexan and pad the inner walls with sound absorbing material. Any ideas?

I prefer to process noise for frequency input when dealing with sound and vibration issues.

Can you feel vibration on the grinder exterior panels? If so, they may be radiating a bunch of noise ( again, measuring the vibration frequency to compare to the A weighted noise frequencies makes a good road map).

How large is the room, Are the room walls hard, and is the grinder close to a wall or in a corner?

High frequencies will be relatively easy to attenuate, on the other hand low frequencies will be much harder to attenuate.
 
Depending on the noise level, sometimes "noise control curtains" can be the most economical and easiest solution.

My advice, first have an assessment of the type and severity of noise, say if it is structure borne noise then you need to mitigate the vibration problem using proper isolation.

Yes I can feel the vibrations on the grinder hopper.
The room is 36' long, 12' wide, 12' high.
The walls are hard (smooth wipe-down)
The grinder is maybe 6' from a side wall and 8' from a back wall (estimating)

So far I'm leaning towards a polycarbonate enclosure framed with 80/20.
If that works well I might skip the interior baffling. We'll see.
