OOOPS never mind, problem solved. A copy of the old file was located in another folder. For some reason, Windows search hadn't listed it when I was looking for it - but I am learning this Windows 7...seems search works different than with WinXP.
Many years ago I was in system admin training for a MicroVax mini computer (about the same power as a 386 PC) and IIRC it used a Unix variation called Ultrix. The really nice file name feature was that it automatically added a revision number to the file name. I believe it was based on a 8.3.nnnn system so you could have a file called mydoc.doc.1 and each time you saved it, the number would increment so you could go back to any version you wanted.
I always wished DOS would have adopted that system.
