Hi all,

Most time, we process REB crude oil (also known as Ural), few months ago we found olefins in Light gas oil on crude unit. We checked other streams on atmospheric and vacuum unit and find olefins in following streams:
Kero 0%wt.
LGO 5.2%wt.
HGO 2.1% wt.
LVGO 2.0%wt.

Our, in house, crude oil assay for REB crude oil, from earlier period of time, show no sings of olefins in crude oil products.
Content of olefins is now typical for three month operation. Normally I don’t expect olefins in crude oil.
Does anyone have experience with this crude oil?

I'm unable to comment on the crude, but the strange appearance of alkenes only in the gas oil streams seems to indicate some cracking of the heavier paraffin waxes may be taking place.

I am taking a guess, based on previous experience. Some refiner down the pipeline (if it is indeed pipeline product)is dumping some cracked product to his crude, and getting export value for this material. My guess it that this is a Visbreaker Residue stream (or something similar) being blended in to meet all other specifications. The pipeline company most likely forgot to add in a line about only "uncracked straight run crude permitted", or someone is cheating (unethical in both cases). I sugggest you go back to your own contracts, and see if there is any pressure you can place on the supplier.

I am going to check sulphur content in these streams, and also atmospheric residue, LVGO, HVGO and vacuum residue, in case of visbroken residue blended in crude oil it should be higher sulphur content.

Hi FRiends,
Do you have any software procedure to calculate the yield of crude processing by having its density,S,IBP,10%,20%,.....95%,FBP value. If any one could help me regarding this it will be very much useful.
Thanks.
