ASME B16.5 doesn't include socketweld or slip on flanges at CL2500. Slip on flanges are also restricted to small bore sizes in CL1500. Can anyone say why?
Despite that, I've seen multiple pipe specs listing B16.5 CL2500 SW flanges. Apparently things have been bought and built that way, but no one can (or wants to) put their finger on where the flanges came from. Anyone got any ideas on a credible place to get one of these?
Back to B16.5, the included flanges rely on full-pen welds rather than fillet welds. This pattern fell apart when I considered B16.11 caps are socketwelded and can be subjected to even higher pressure thrusts than a blinded CL2500 SW flange might be.
