Reading a Kollmorgen drive parameter using Siemens Step 7

I am trying to read a parameter from a Kollmorgen S300 servo drive over Profibus using an S7-300 controller and Step 7 program. I have setup the program per the Kollmorgen manual ( task ID = 1, Parameter Number = 1724, Parameter Index = 1. I send out the command to the drive but the response back does not change from a previous write to the drive. Can anyone offer some tips to what I may be missing?

do you have the drive added to your hardware config as a node?

do you see it on profibus when your online with the profibus?

did you import the gsd to the siemens hardware config?

Yes to all. I currently write the opmode (parameter 930) to the drive.
