Hi

I am looking for a formula that calculates the estimated cost of a reactor by using three variables for example (height , ..... ). I dont need a program , i am just looking for an imperical or any other applicable formula for a plant designing simulation. Is there any suggestion or anyone who can help or give me a refference ?

Tnx

The formula is quite simple, you don't even need three variables. The reactor volume at Chernobil was about 400,000 m3 and the cost was about 3.2 billion dollars. You only multiply the volume of your reactor by 3.2 billion dollars and divide it to 400,000 m3, there you go, you have the estimated cost of your reactor. Easy enough? The principle might work on other plant assemblies, I'm not sure about the value in dollars for the rest left behind..
cheers,

sepehrofsharif, are you interested in the cost of the vessel itself or the cost of a project to install a new reactor in an existing plant? Expect a factor 2-10 difference between the two.

I am looking for a formula using three variables such as volume , material and internal pressure that let's me calculate the estimated cost of just the vessel. I am exactly looking for the the same ore similar formula used by

Expect any such formula to be accurate plus or minus an order of magnitude at best. You need at least the aspect ratio to get a decent approximation of the weight of metal in the thing, and even THAT kind of estimate could be only modestly better thna you'd get by using a dartboard or a chart out of Perry's Handbook.
