Hi all,

maybe this is a stupid question...QW-407.2 talks about "A change in the postweld heat treatroent(see QW-407.1) temperature and time range".
For 80% time ok, no problem, but temperature could be changed?

Example:

ASME IX with Impact test required

WPS: quenching @ 920°C and tempering @ 680°C
PQR: quenching @ 920°C and tempering @ 640°C

time range ok

Can I use this PQR? Even if tempering temperature is different?

Thank you

but temperature could be changed?

Yes, see QW-407.1 (4)

As long as you are above the upper transformation temperature (Quenching) and followed by treatment below the lower transformation temperature (Tempering) of whatever material you are heat treating, you are code compliant. Actual temperatures used may be further limited by the owner or user of the equipment in their specifications.

The devil is in the details; she also wears prada.
