Hi,
when steam vented from a safety valv,
we can estimate the noise level using the VDMA or API formulas, but how can we estimate the noise level in each frequency octave.
Thank you.

I ask about calculation and estimation methods.
We can also use a noise analyser instead of API an VDMA formulas to measure total noise level!

My suggestion...

Discuss the matter with people who specialize in this exact application, those who design and furnish silencers for PSVs.

Anderson Greenwood is one place to start

Tyco flow control (Crosby division) is another place to find information.

There are others..

My opinion only.

I believe you need to know the frequency distribution and levels in order to estimate or calculate octave band content and contribution to the overall sound level. You will need to do a frequency analysis unless someone has already done the analysis.
