If you use a pure magnesium with stainless steel will it react chemically? Are there any safety warnings with these substances?

Nature only gives lessons, not warnings, for that you need to do the research.
First step is to visit the suppliers web site for a safety data sheet.
This should provide sufficient indication of the hazards to prompt a further ivestigation of material compatability.
Web searches will usually provide a wealth of information.

We use stainless reactors do do reactions with 99.95% pure magnesium. The problem is that the magnesium scrapes the stainless and you tend to get ppm levels of iron in the solution.
Does that help?

Shouldn't we specify the circumstances e.g. wet or dry,
cold or hot, presence of other chemicals etc. ? Otherwise
what kind of reaction can there be between Mg only ?
( "between" implies more than one )
