Question for German speakers 2

I've got a print from a German company. On the print is a hole with 2 tolerances called out on it. The one tolerance has the words "nach dem giessen" in parentheses after it and the other tolerance has the words "nach dem räumen" in parentheses after it. I think it is the tolerance before and after some process, but that is just a guess.

Can anybody translate these for me? I've tried Google translate and a German-English dictionary but they haven't been helpful.

räumen can mean "to clear"

So.....

I'll guess your part is a casting and that the hole in question is rough cast, then machined to size.

raumen will probably mean, to dismantle or to take away, probably the part from the mold. I do not think it's "to ream", as "erweiteren" is more commonly used.

giessen = pouring/casting, that is correct.

Almost, first part ist correct, second part "after raeumen" would be "after reaming"

Brad1979 - A good case as to why one should stay away from computer translations on technical translations.

Here is the correct translation:
Nach dem giessen = after casting.
Nach dem räumen = after broaching.

If they wanted to ream the hole they would specify "nach dem reiben".
You would not ream a casted hole without drilling first. There are round broaches available.

Hole size is 15mm. Tolerances were JS9 and F9.

Is it a blind hole?

Is it a through hole? If so, through what thickness of material?

Brad - That is not to say you could not ream it if that is cheaper for you. With those wide open tolerances my guess is they would not care how you get there.
