Is there any way to link the data in a Part or Assembly DJ to the DJ in drawing mode? I've created a list of changes in my part and I'd like to have that information copied to the drawing. I've tried copying and pasting but for some reason I get a jpg picture and not the text. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
John

Try linking to an Excel file, then insert the Excel into the DJ.

Have the same problem. Try this it works for me!

Open your part\assy DJ.

Save as - call it what you want so long as you can find it!

E.g. tempdj.doc

Then open your drawing DJ

Then open your tempdj.doc and copy your text from it.

You should then be able to paste it into your drawing DJ.

Dunno why but it works for me!

Hope it helps!

Thanks, that worked! Just labor intensive, but it gets the job done. Is there a way for it to automatically populate like a custom property?

Glad it worked. :)

Don't know the answer to the second question. If I find out I'll let you know!

Kind regards.

Open the models DJ and do a Save Copy As. Then RMB the Design Binder, click Add Attachment & browse to the copy you just saved & click OK.
You can embed or link the file depending whether you use the Link option.

Good answer corblimey...

Can anyone explain why this problem occurs?

Regards

Like the models DJ, the drawing DJ absorbs its own "File Name", "Description" & "Material" custom properties.

The probable reason SW does not link the drawing DJ to a part/assy DJ is that the drawing could contain multiple sheets of different parts/assys. The drawing DJ would not know which properties to absorb?
