Does anyone know of any resources available on the quad curve? We are commissioning some transmission relays...more specifically, the distance element of the relays. The fellow we had out here to test the settings had an Omicron test set that broke during testing so we are looking for something to help us calculate test points/ect...

Also, any general information on the quad/mho curves is appreciated. I do have access to the Areva and GE PRAGs, but I haven't had a chance to go through them yet.

Thanks much, your input is appreciated.

The quadrilateral characteristic is usually a little bit different on each relay type. Check the manual of the relay you are testing to get information on the characteristic.

We normally test on the R axis (East and West), X axis (North and South) and also at 5 degrees each side of the corners.

Once you know the ohms reach, the volts and current to inject is the calculated the same was as for any other distance characteristic
