Hi everybody

I have a 24inch Sch 80 (1.219in) pipe y I want to make a branch with a 12inch Sch80 (0.688in) weldolet. The question is: Do I need PWHT in the olet to pipe (24") weld by ASME B31.3, the weld process will be executed with GTAW/SMAW (ER-70S-6) and E-7018

Regards
KN

I believe you will. What is the maximum wall thickness of the two parts being joined with that weld?

What would you be doing, if you knew that you could not fail? Ans. Gov lobbyist.

Weld thickness governs; includes thickness of branch and reinforcing fillet. Review 331.1.3(a) of B31.3.
