Punching shear check to lateral loads

I just found this thread Link discussing about the punching shear issue for walls on slab. However the discussion is about gravity loads only. I am wondering that won't the punching shear issue a bigger concern when it comes lateral loads like earthquake considering the stiffness of the wall is quite large and thus have huge moments, leading to the higher compression at wall ends?
