I need to have 6 bushings welded to a plate and projection welding appears to be the most cost effective solution. My problem is I cannot find bushings that are commercially available, and I'm not exactly sure how to design the bushing for this process. Can anyone suggest a vendor or advise on the design for the bushings

Projection welding (similar to spot welding) works well with materials usually no thicker than 1/8".

What is the function of your bushings and their size? Can you use a self-clinching bushing that is pressed into your plate?

Unfortunately no. The plate is really a standard sprocket for a stamping supplier and the quantities that are required are too low to invest in new tooling. The spacers are going to be used as offsets for the sprocket. I don't want to get into tacking all the spacers on the sprocket and a full weld is overkill. I thought that projection welding would be a good solution. Thanks for the input.

Try posting in forum725 for other users to comment since your question is more geared towards projection welding. But make sure you provide a link back to this topic too.

Can you design a one-piece spacer instead of 3 separate bushings?
