Hi All -

Fyi I am an X Autodesk Inventor user.
Here is an example of what Inventor could do:

Create a simple rectangle sketch, extrude it, then create a second sketch on a face. (the top of the box). Then i was able to "project" the 1st sketch outline of that face onto the 2nd sketch, then extrude hte projected sketch lines without have to redraw the sketch lines.

Does anyone know if solidworks 2003(sp1)has this feature?

Thanks,

Rob

Certainly. You'll need the "convert entities" tool. You can convert an entire contour (such as your rectangular face) or only a segment of your contour, at your option.

You can also select an edge or surface of the model to do the same.

This tool is indespensible. You can use it within assemblies as well, but then have references to the assembly within your part model (which you may or may not desire).

Look in SW Help Index for "Convert Entities" and "Copy, Sketch Entities". I think that should get you where you want to go.
