I am currently investigating a fractured cam shaft from a V8 engine. I have tracked the material specified for this shaft as a "proferal cast billet". I believe this to be a grey cast iron? If so do you know where I could obtain material chemical composition/mechanical propety data for proferal?

Suggest you cut a piece out from the cam and do a micro examination and hardness test on it. Before destroying the part though make sure you take plenty of photos.

Good luck
