Is it required that production test plate be of the same haet number as that of shell course to which production test plate is extended?
The Code of construction is TRD. Equipment to be manufactured is Fire Tube Boiler.

What do you mean sir? Are you trying to say is Test Piece is necessary when fabricating a boiler?

Per ASME Code rules,if a production test is necessary, it must be made up of material from one of the heats of material used on the vessel. This does not mean it must be of the same heat as the long seam it's tacked to.
I believe there's an interpretation that states that in certain cases, it may be acceptable to weld the production test separately from the vessel, perhaps, before actual production welding begins.

Weldtek,

In ASME Section I (Edition 2010), material of the production test plate needs not be of the same heat, please see PW-53.2 and its footnote 4.
Production test plate may be welded separately, please see PG-53.2.2.
Please could you provide me the reference of same heat number from Section VIII-1, Section VIII-2 or Section IV?

In our company, production test plate is the same material used in vessel. the same thickness of plate that you used for the vessel..we are making test plate while we welding the vessels.

We are using JIS handbook.

Fizza,
I don't have Sec 1 so I should have specified ASME rules in Sec VIII Div 1 & 2.
Paragraph references are UG84(i)(1) and 3.11.8.4(a), respectively.

Presumably, the WPS has already been qualified at the required temperature, so I'm curious, what would it prove to make a production test using plates from a heat of material not used on the vessel?

Your above statement is logically strong enough.
Thank you for your valuable comments.
