Are there any API or industry documents for process hoses, process hose selection, and/or process hose management. Thanks.

API has some standards for aviation hoses, oil rig hoses, and fittings.

Most hose manufacturers in the industrial hose industry only manufacture hoses. They do not have the expertise necessary to design and manufacture fittings and clamps as well. This means that many industrial hoses cannot be guaranteed since each component is from a different manufacturer.

Some industries such as the automotive industry do have their own standards.

The RMA Hose Handbook has some limited information:

NAHAD has some limited information:

Some organization also have engineering standards:

Flexible hoses are discouraged for permanent hydrocarbon process applications; only used for non hydrocarbon utilities. You may need to seek corporate Engg approval in your organisation if you believe there is justification for this. We see cryogenic hoses being proposed for offshore ship to ship LNG transfer these days; armoured HP hoses for submarine gas /oil transport applications (Coflexip); ship to shore HC fluids transfer, but I've not seen these in inplant applications.

I'm familiar with hose use in utilities, but not with hydrocarbon so that's why I was asking the question. I'm being asked about hoses in plant usage.

Generally discouraged in permanent installations, except maybe for loading operations.
