Problems with Version 17

I poked around in the forums looking to see if anyone else was experiencing problems in assemblies in V17, but did not see anyone having the same problems.

When I drag a subassembly into my new drawing, it's a toss up if the software will allow me to pick on my part. Sometimes the software is ready to allow me to constrain it, sometimes it won't even let me pick on the subassembly to even enter assembly mode. There are times that I have undo the drag and drop three or four times before it will allow me to pick on the piece I just dropped in, then there have been times that it won't allow me to pick on the parts that are already in the assembly. Its very frustrating. One time it works fine, five minutes later, I can't even highlight a part.

Mine does the exact same thing, it drives me nuts. The parts just seem to randomly lose focus. I usually have to click the selection tool again and re-select the part to continue establishing relationships.. I've been tempted to try to go back to version 16.. I'm sure my company wouldn't be too thrilled about it, but I've been going nuts.

Sounds like a problem I'm having! (I mean in S-E, not ME!)

I was using S-E 15 on a previous assignment, and have jumped to -17 here. I'm noticing the same problem.

Back when I was using -15, it would appear in my draft files. For some unexpected reason, I'd update a part, and refresh it in a DFT, and the dimensions would fly apart LITERALLY- they woud go EVERYWHERE! I've even printed a couple of the more whimsical examples, to remind me to stay humble- no matter how good I get as a DESIGNER, the tool can stab you in the back if you're not wary!

I'm under a real time-crunch on this project, and any real help with this would be GREATLY appreciated!

to all,
I had the same problem.
check to see if "reduce steps" is off.(unchecked)
When mine is turned on it did not work for me.

When applying a relationship, the "parameters" or "options" button - looks like a piece of paper about halfway along the Ribbon Bar, latest versions of SE the options button is circular whereas the rest are square - will have options for placing relationships, one of them to reduce steps. It is located just after the relationship type in SE v17.
