I'm feeding a cross flow filter loop with a feed pump. The loop has a recirculation pump, high flow medium TDH that circulates slurry through a cross flow filter. A bleed back slurry flow returns to the feed tank through a back pressure control valve. The recirculation pump is cavitating during shake down test. Not sure why since all indications are that suction pressure is adequate as is the suction piping and loop temperatures.

Do I need a pulsation dampener in the loop to dampen out the bleed back control valve flow? Currently everything is in manual fix control mode.

The bleed back flow is 80% of the feed flow and 100% when the filtrate is isolated.

I have VFD, TMP and flow control on every in and out of the system so I can do whatever I need.

Both the feed and recirculation pumps are 1800 rpm recessed impeller.
