Hello,

I hope to do a simulation that contains 3 components. I want to see the thermal stress of them during two processes: 1. cooling down from 520k to 20k. 2. heating from 20k to 520k.

Now the problem is: If I do the two steps in one simulation, the results are good. But if I do the two processes separately(means I do two simulations, one cool them down from 520k to 20k, another heat them from 20k to 520k), the results are weird.

What I did is: I imported residual stress profile from the first model to the second one. I'm keeping the same model, same elements (and their name), same nodes, same material properties. At the initial step of the second model, I used "predefined field" to import the final stress condition of the first simulation.

Did I do something wrong? Why do I always get weird results if I do the two processes separately?

Thanks

Transferring the stresses to an undeformed model is not a good idea in my opinion.

Why don't you use the restart option if you want to do it in two separate analysis?
An import analysis would also be possible.

What is the restart option? How to do it? Could you tell me some details?
