My drawing contains a number of lines with different thicknesses(weights) but when i print it out i am getting lines with same thickness (Its making thicker lines to thinner). Is there any setting in solidworks options to get thicker lines in printouts (either hard copy or pdf file). It doesn't even show thicker lines in print preview too. Any idea whats going wrong here?

thanks,

Go to File->Print. Click the button labeled "Line Weights..." and enter different widths in the box for your different lineweights.

handleman, thanks for your reply. I tried that but its not working. May be some problem with printer or my solidworks installation (v2006).

How are you creating the thicker lines in the drawing?

Do you have the correct line thicknesses set in Tools > Options > Document Properties > Line Font?

I am using layers with different properties for line thicknesses and formats (dashed, solid etc).

Just FYI. I have created this drawing independently. Not from a Part or assembly. So i have to specify properties for varous lines seperately (since document properties like hidden line edges, etc) are not applicable here.

Do regular drawings (views of models) show line weights correctly?

Have you tried updating the printer drivers?

The drawings show line weights correctly. However the print preview and printouts shows all lines with same thickness. I am printing on my office network printer. Not sure if its a problem with driver.

Are you able to send the file to another printer?

Are you using the latest SP5.1 for SW06?

Maybe post the separate drawing here for others to try with different printers. See faq559-1177

CBL thanks for your suggestion. I have created a sample drawing to upload and i found out that its printing well on my printer. so there must me something i am messing it up in my previous drawing. I will try to figure it out if not i will post it.

Thanks for your help.
