Hi lads , could anyone help me to perform analysis for a disk of
material A supported on 3 ball of material B and force applied using
fourth ball on the top , what constrains should I use and how to apply
the force. I am looking for the stress field and contact area.
Thanks

i am trying to work on your model. i made 4 half balls, 3
at bottom with tangent contact between them and the disk.
the forth are on the top.
now i am trying to make the analysis but i got this " The
model is insufficiently constrained for the analysis ", i
am trying to increase the Mesh but its not working :(

I would have thought you'd need to constrain one of the 3 balls underneath with a point constraint and make sure it's constrianed underneath if it's on half spherical. I say only constrain one as your model will not behave as it should do if you constrain all three (X, Y). Possibly the interia releif would help in this case. I'm not too familar with it have read bits about it.

pjw,
Thanks for the info. i tried a point on a surface
constrain between the ball and the disk, force been
applied on the upper half of the ball, and no matter what
i try to decrease the size of the mesh i got this error in
this location. have you seen anything like this before?
thanks and regards,
