I load the student version, have the license file on my desktop. Install is finished. Problem is it says that "invalid host, the host id of this system does not match the host id of this system. I received this license from ptc. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong.

It is a commen problem, you should show your install process, so we can see where the problem happens.

Hi,

check the physical add of the system and check wether it matches with the host id in the license file.to get the physical id of ur system TYPE ipconfig/all in the command prompt.if u have two network installed in ur system then stop the other networkcard so that u will get the right physical id.

The pc does not need to be connected to a network in order to run student edition, however you must have a network port and drivers installed for this device in order obtain mac adress (host i.d)

cheers

Thanks everyone who took the time to answer. As you all of said it was the host id that the software needed. As soon as I connected up and filled out for the license it was no problem at all.
