Hi,

I have created a drawing of an assembly. The assembly contains of about 3000 components so it is quite big. I have created 5 shaded views of the assembly.

My question is when I print/create a PDF it takes a very long time before NX actually print/create PDF of drawing.

I get a message saying "Generating Shaded views" and then it start counting from 0%-100%. NX does this for every single view.

So my question here is am I doing something wrong or is this just the way NX works with shaded views?
Printing this drawing takes about 20-30 min from that I press Print.

I have also tried to create faceted representations and use lightweight views, but still it is very time consuming to print the drawing.

Is the use of shaded views absolutely necessary in a drawing?
Or when should it be used?

The use of shaded views is important for us in this kind of drawings.
It contains of very many small components that would almost be impossible to separate if it would be done with wireframe views.

So visually it would be a huge benefit to get drawings like these with shaded views.

What is confusing me here is why NX has to "Generate shaded views" before printing them?

What is been generated? It almost feels like NX is loading all parts one more time before printing them...

But as I said the time that NX takes to print shaded views is in my opinion way to long..

Are there any settings we could change to reduce the time of printing shaded views in NX?

Thanks..

No, You aren't doing anything wrong.
Based on my experience the worry comes when it goes too fast, and doesn't give the shaded image . . . but my one shaded view cans maybe on five minutes.

Maybe a computer upgrade is in order.

Hi jerry1423,

I don not think it´s my computer who is to slow..

I use a Dell precision M4800 with Intel(R)Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @2.40GHz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA Quadro K2100M
Installed Memory RAM 16GB.

Our previous CAD system was not struggling at all with same kind of shaded views so i just wonder why NX is behaving this way...

Thanks,
