Hi All,

I would appreciate if anyone can advise here the acceptable set pressure tolerance and the standard used for testing PVRVs. I have done numerous research and all that I came across mentioned that allowable is +/- 10% for pressure/vacuum setting, however there is no document/standard to support same. I went through API2000, API 2521,API 576 & ISO 28300, but none of them mentioned the allowable tolerance.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and look forward to your response at your earliest convenience.

API 526?

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

API-576 - Inspection of Pressure-relief Devices (2017) quotes "6.2.9.8. Where the pressure-relief valve set pressure is below 15 psig, such as a pilot-operated pressure-relief valve on an API 620 low-pressure storage tank, the ±2 psi tolerance may be excessive and could substantially exceed the tank’s pressure rating. The owner/user should specify the set point tolerance and required gauge precision and range to be used during the set pressure verification."

You best talk to the manufacturer of your PVRV.

*** Per ISO-4126, the generic term
'Safety Valve' is used regardless of application or design ***

*** 'Pressure-relief Valve' is the equivalent ASME/API term ***
