I am an engineer in California and need to find a rule for testing and acceptance of the joints of a 48" RCP sewer pipe that I have designed. ASTM C924 (April 2004) says that 48" and larger pipes will be accepted by individual joint testing and not pressurizing the entire run. Does anyone know of a standard reference or some ASTM standard for individual joint testing of RCP for sewer?

thanks,

joint testing is done at the factory for material acceptance.

ASTM C990 - 09(2014) Standard Specification for Joints for Concrete Pipe, Manholes, and Precast Box Sections Using Preformed Flexible Joint Sealants

ASTM C443-12 Standard Specification for Joints for Concrete Pipe and Manholes, Using Rubber Gaskets

leakage testing of the completed line should be done from manhole to manhole and can be done with either water or air. testing of the installed pipeline is recommended for the entire length.

ASTM C969 - 02(2009) Standard Practice for Infiltration and Exfiltration Acceptance Testing of Installed Precast Concrete Pipe Sewer Lines

ASTM C1103 - 14 Standard Practice for Joint Acceptance Testing of Installed Precast Concrete Pipe Sewer Lines
