Pressure piping in Brewery Plant

What is applicable code for pressure piping to be installed in brewery plant in New Brunswick province of Canada.

Many thanks for you prompt response.I agree pressure piping based on service must be designed, fabricated and installed in accordance with B31.1 ( Power Piping ), B31.3 ( Chemical plant ) and B31.5 (Refrigation) This complies with New Brunswick regulation for Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act.We can not use any other code like DIN or BS.

For economy reasons, for non pressure piping and fittings can we use German / BS Code.

I was a past inspector for the boilers branch in New Brunswick. I would avoid anything but the specified standard listed in Regulation.
If it's non pressure then use what makes sense.

I'd avoid anything that's not a Code or dimensional North American standard. Non-Code compliant bits have a way of showing up where they aren't supposed to be, and things that are an odd dimension are a nightmare for maintenance. Install components that are readily available from local supply houses. It really sucks when you get told "Oh ya, we can get 90's like those. 10 - 12 weeks delivery."

In New Brunswick ,Do we need registration for air piping smaller then 3/4" and 1/4" and CRN number for air hoses of 3/4" and 1/4".

In Ontario, there's a specific exemption in the Ontario Boilers & Pressure Vessels Regulation for small (3/4" and under) compressed air lines. It covers compressed air only. You can have stupid situations like a 3/4" 200 PSI compressed air line is exempt, and it's right beside a 1/2" 20 PSI nitrogen line that DOES fall under the code. Hose assemblies will fall under the same requirements, based on the pipe size. I don't know if New Brunswick has a similar exemption for compressed air.

Generally breweries use dairy tubing for product and pipe for services. There is no reason why dairy tube cant be designed to the conventional standards but it does take a little more work.

Contact your speciaist dairy tube and fittings company and ask them. Some of the hygeinic fittings are non standard and thus require some derating or testing to qualify for design to a code designed for boilers or petrochem. Again those in the industry will know. Here in Australia we have Alfa Laval etc who are industry leaders.

One of the most important design considerations in brewery piping is pressure relief. This can easily be accomplished on the finished product line with a pressure relief valve - similar to a tap. If designed properly this relief valve will be in the lunch room, after have run through a chiller. You'll significantly reduce stress levels in the plant.
