I just read in a two-phase flow paper today(not onhand now) that at the onset of slug flow some 5 to 13 slugs per second pass a point. I don't know if that rate is a universal characteristic of slug flow or is dependent upon pipe size and temperature history. If that's a typical frequency range for slug flow then pipe bending and connected big component (steam generators, reactors, etc.)
rocking and torsional modes are likely to be excited with potentially serious consequences. Unless your piping walls are standard or reinforced Reynold's wrap, shell lobar modes of the piping should not be involved with their response frequencies at least two orders of magnitude higher than 5-13 Hz slug flow excitation frequencies.
