how should i mesh a fastener( do i need to do any partitions) and how can i allocate a pre tension surface in bw?

This has to qualify as the most vague post I've ever read. Consider giving some specific (and hence, useful) details.

I am sorry for not giving clear deatils. as a begineer in abaqus i have few doubts in meshing a fastener which has a chamfer at the bottom and round at the top, i don't know what kind of meshing i need to do here, do i need to partion the fastener in no. of blocks for structured or sweep mesh?

There is an example of a threaded fastener in the manual/sample files. You might want to check that out. I don't know if it has anything about applying pre-tension.

HTH,
Dan
