have you guys ever installed braided cables for VSDs.
i would have thought SWA would do the same but the project i am on requires the screen to be braided.
i am struggling to get information from suppliers, most cable companies said they would make them on request, are these cables so uncommon as to get a decent catalog of information on them?

thanks for the reply,

scanned through that and rang lapp, they only do those cables up to 120 mm2 for 3 core. i require 3 core 185mm2, any other suggestions

AmerCable make VFD cables, up to 777 kcmil [400 sq. mm] according to their catalog. Search for 37-102VFD. Probably a special build with a MOQ

hey thanks for all the replies

upon further discussions with my seniors, they believe that a normal SWA cable with a separate does the same job. have you guys heard of this. obviously with supply and delivery time SWA cable with a separate earth would be the ideal solution for me.
also SWA would be a stronger cable

You'd not stated your location, but since you're asking for sq.mm there are different options, the one I'm most familiar with is made by Olex and is called Varolex. Olex is stated to be an Australian company, but are owned by Nexans so there may be some relevance to your location.

Its not SWA (you'd not stated if it was a requirement or not) but its a screened VSD cable.

Others with more experience than myself would be able to comment on how much the screening is required to block out noise from the VSD output, which is probably why braided screen cable has been requested.

Varolex (and its equivalents) are not cheap, though they do come in a 185sq.mm variety. There are probably minimum order quantities for it too, and in my experience no one stocks it as its rather expensive and not always required.
