I normally specify cast in place anchor bolts (ie. L-bolts) for most of my residential projects, either 1/2" or 5/8". On a current project I've got a slab that is 6" thick and was poured 20 years ago. Simpson makes quite a selection of mechanical and adhesive based products. Do you have a personal preference on any of these products, based on ease of use, price or capacity?
In the aerospace industry we used a lot of Hilti fasteners for attaching equipment to massive concrete buyoff pads. Typically we would specify adhesive based products and we would have a specialized firm come in to do all of the drilling. Even though I had the privilege of hammer drilling a few holes myself on occasion.
I am not as familiar with what is common practice for this sort of thing in the construction industry especially with residential design.
