Hello All,

First time poster here.

I signed up to take the SE exam in Illinois and was told by the board that I need 6 more hours of structural analysis and design credit, 3 of which must be design. Does anyone have any recommendations on online, weekend, or night classes in the Chicago area that don't cost $1000/credit hour? I'm not ready to go back for a master's at this point and am really just looking for a non-degree post bachelor's situation.

In the meantime I've signed up to take the Civil PE with Structural depth but know that what I really want eventually is the SE.

I used the search and couldn't find anything on this topic. Also, sorry if this is in the wrong place. I appreciate your help.

Usually a state college has much lower rates. Not sure what is available in Chicago...but thinking google would help. Or contact the University of Illinois to see if they have a local branch.

I know Purdue used to have a Chicago (Gary, IN I think) branch. Not sure what they offered or cost.

Good Luck

I suggest bite the $$$$ bullet and just take a couple night classes at IIT or UIC. Highly recommend Seismic, Advanced Concrete, or Advanced Steel. The credit will also remain valid for a number of years if you do decide to get the Masters.

If you go another route, make absolute certain beforehand that IDPR will accept the course/institution.
