Re wood pole buildings
I design a lot of wood pole buildings and I continually get into debates with contractors and building inspectors who have different ideas that they prefer on connections and bracing.
Does anyone know where I can get examples of connection details between the poles and a perimeter beam …. either a solid beam or a spaced beam, and other connections. Also what is the best way to deal with the gable end vis-a-vis connection at the roof. I use pre-eng trusses, prefer roof sheeting under metal roofing (if I can convince the owner) as opposed to purlins.
I can’t to find a decent publication on the subject.

Thanks for responding Ishvaaag.

I looked at the drawings you suggested. The main roof members are large trusses (expensive)spaced the same as the poles. Thus all the load goes to ground directly through the poles. Our designs are light pre-eng trusses spaced at 2' OC while the poles are 8 ft oc. Thus we have a loaded edge beam. The drawings in that Site do not help us a lot.
You memtioned APA. I will try that ... they are ii the USA I suppose..... we are in Canada.
Thanks

JR
