Ok folks,
Heres a tester for all you boffins out there.

I am trying to import a tif file of an aerofoil blade section, then scale and rotate it in 2d.

I would then like to visually create points on the aerofoil section.

Then i would like to output those points to a text/excel file ideally in the order which i created the points.

please could somebody reply to this as I'm quickly going bold.

Cheers
Alan

If you can see the section in the image then you can import it as a Raster Image to sketch over. That option is found under View>Visualization>High Quality Image, and there is an Icon "Raster Image". To do it you may need some extra Licenses, Surface Studio includes high quality images, but check. You also need to convert your image to .Tif format outside of NX. Even Microsoft Paint can do that if you start with bitmap or Jpeg.

Adding the image will create a plane that it lies upon in the model, you can set up your WCSYS to that, and just sketch the points over the image by eye.

Then you need to output the points. It is do-able several ways. One is to use a grip program. Some people use machining and output drill points. I'll leave you to search the forum using the search near the top of this page to help, because I know the topic has been covered here before. Again the solution you choose may depend on what licenses you have access to.

Best Regards

Hudson

Thanks for the prompt reply

I've had a good go at your suggestion and with little bit
of manipulation i've managed to get there.
