3 (13,13) 3 j4-j2
4 (26,8) 4 j5-j3
5 (13,8)

Joints 1 and 4 sit on wall plate.

Since it is timber constrution all members are pinned to each other.

Here is the problem, the house is already constructedand the building inspector wants calcs or a stamp and i've thought of several different solutions but none yeild the numbers that make sense. The only solution is to make a plywood gusset from joint 2-3-5. However, it just doesn't seem to work. I already know that a ridge beam would eliminate all of these problems but that is not an option. Please tell me what you think. Thanks

The inspector wants calcs or a stamp. No gusset meets this requirement. Draw everything carefully and bring it to a structural engineer for review. He can certify it meets code, or give you a fix that will bring it to standard. Then he stamps the plan to show your building inspector.

Draw free body diagram of the individual members and the applied/resultant forces/reactions.
