Is it necessary to indicate the Heat# or Lot# on the plate (plate SA-240, AISI 316L) according to SA-480?

Actually i have following marking on plate: "AISI 316L 6x1500x6000".

As i understand, as per SA-480 'the name or mark of the manufacturer' shall be marked on plates. Is that mandatory requirement?

Tnks,
I have latest Edition of SA-480 (p. 25 didn't changing). My question is as per SA-480 'the name or mark of the manufacturer' shall be mandatory marked on plates?

Also, SA-480 says:
"The specification and designation number, and name
or mark of the manufacturer shall be marked on the piece(s) or attached to the item or bundle"

So, as i understand manufacturer can apply paint marking directly onto the plate OR onto a tag and affix it to the plate or bundle?

If the plate is only marked as being AISI, why are you looking for SA-240/SA-480 markings?

I can't find any AISI standard.
If you can help with it to understand, I would be grateful to you

Here's some info I found by Googling. If what I say below is wrong that's my poor Googling! Maybe you could try Google?

The AISI manual listed chemistry only. They may have included "typical" physical properties, but testing was not required.

AISI no longer publishes this manual, however it seems lots of manufacturers still use the AISI names as reference designations. These designations were adopted by ASTM and ASME material specifications so they also appear there.

Good luck.

My concerns were regarding Marking plates as per SA-480, paragraph 25...
Actually, i hope for ASME Code expert opinion).

I hate to repeat myself, but why are you expecting ASME marking on an AISI material?

If this photo is of an ASME registered vessel / piping / etc. and that's the only marking on the plate then you've got a big problem.

I've been designing large, field-erected ASME pressure vessels for 30+ years. I wonder when I get to call myself an expert?

Did your PO say 'per SA-480' ?
If not then don't expect it.
If you didn't list a specification they are free to supply whatever they like.
