For some designs, I have been starting with sketches in the assembly to define the geometry of the various parts. This seems to be comfortable, as I can use a variable table in the assembly, and keep all the design parameters there.
When editing a part in-place, I mostly use Include to get vertices etc. from the assembly sketches. The associativity works just fine.
However, sometimes I need to define some Parallel planes in a part based on the assembly sketches, e.g. to be From/To planes for a Protusion.
I noticed that when placing a Parallel plane in the part, it was possible to use vertices from the assembly sketches without Including them explicitly (i.e. while positioning the plane, vertices in the assembly sketches bring up red points for snapping to).
This seemed to be a good, fast way to associate those part planes with the assembly sketches.
However, it seems that when I change the sketches in the assembly, those planes do not maintain associativity.
Is this a bug/missing feature? Is there any way to maintain associativity in this case?
(If instead, I Include features from the assembly sketch into a sketch in the Part, and then lock the plane to those vertices, everything seems to work fine...but this involves more steps and is a bit tedious in practice).
